GENERAL PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS

Embodiment: Discovering the Safe Space Within

PRESENTER: Diane Hudson, MSEd, LMHC, CYT200

DETAILS: This presentation will introduce participants to the practice of Embodiment; the integration of the mental, emotional, and physical body. Diane Hudson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Yoga Teacher who has dedicated over a decade to supporting others on their journey of connection. Participants will be invited to practice along while she shares intuitive movement, breathing techniques, and guided mindfulness practices from her upcoming Embodiment program based on the 4 Anchors of Healing that can help guide us to Discovering the Safe Space Within.

How to Create a Successful Eating Disorder Support Group

PRESENTERS: Quad Cities Eating Disorder Support Group Facilitators

DETAILS: Local facilitators will discuss what has helped keep the Quad Cities eating disorders support group successful for over ten years in our community. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions to learn more about the benefits of attending and how to start a successful support group of their own.

MEET THE SPEAKERS 

Diane Hudson, MSEd, LMHC, CYT200

Diane Hudson, MSEd, LMHC, CYT200 is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Certified Yoga Teacher, and a BE REAL Ambassador. She has completed iaedp (International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals) Core Course Training and is working towards her iaedp Educational Designation. Diane is the owner of New Moon Wellness QC, supporting clients across the state of Iowa via telehealth and in-person in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Diane attended Western Illinois University where she graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration, 2010 with her Master of Science degree in Educational Studies, and 2019 with her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her professional experience includes Life Connections Mental Health, Davenport Police Department, American Red Cross, internships at the Robert Young Mental Health Center, and The Abbey Addiction Treatment Center; as well as many volunteer opportunities including the Quad Cities Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), and Amy’s Gift (QC Eating Disorder Consortium).

Diane specializes in treating clients who present with concerns related to eating disorders, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, adjustment-related stressors, anxiety, depression, and other trauma related stressors. She works primarily with individuals aged 14 and up. Her main treatment modalities are rooted in the theory of Somatic Experiencing ®, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques: a skills-based approach including mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. She has been presenting for over a decade at local and regional conferences on the topic of using yoga and mindfulness as a tool for supporting emotional health.

Alecia Krier

Alecia (Ali) has been going to the Amy's Gift support group since 2016. She has been facilitator for 3 years. She struggled with Anorexia since she was 14. "Going to support group and being around people who have been or are going through similar experiences has played a vital role in my recovery." Ali currently works at Robert Young Center and wants to continue to help people with mental health in her community and beyond.

Lindsay Madson

Lindsay healed from an eating disorder in her early 20's after completing an outpatient program. She is one of the leaders of the Amy's gift support group program and an advocate for mental health awareness. Lindsay believes that sharing our vulnerabilitys can help us grow and make us stronger human beings. She enjoys spending time with her family and works for a local bank.
